There has been a dramatic shift in the last 20 years in the value of intellectual property assets held by companies versus tangible property assets. Best practices have evolved to ensure that the ever increasing value of IP assets is properly addressed in the due diligence process. As a result, modern public record due diligence includes searching for UCCs, tax liens, judgment liens, bankruptcy, litigation and intellectual property (IP).
This program covers what to search, where to search, and what name(s) to search for thorough public record due diligence. We will discuss different types of intellectual property and liens to assist searchers in gathering the information required to make important decisions in financial transactions.
